decisions decisions
up.
down.
and upside down.
on how to proceed with my blogging.
here's what i've decided to do.
rather than drop this blog entirely and start up a whole new one ----
for, y'see ----
i've already got a second, photo blog to maintain as well as a third, artsy fartsy one with ongoing painting projects > this one is 'private' and only gets updated once or twice a year...
so, yes.
i've decided to stay put and vary the posts on b's little bit o' dis and little bit o' dat.
much the same, but different.
thanks to your input, i'm planning to get into even more free associating here.
and won't work quite so hard on the entries.
but have them be more frequent.
with more dibbly dabbly doings instead.
WHOT?
continued ramblings based on nothing much at all?
raving and rumbling and retching?
ruminations, rips n' rags?
YEP.
you bet'cha.
xo
to my
readers,
from
b
who is
me.

blank blog page
I've been sitting here staring, for the longest time, at a blank blog page.
What to do.
What to do.
So let me tell you what's on my mind, short of delving into an interesting blog topic that might engage your interest for the next minute or three.
Let's talk about keeping a blog and writing blog posts for it. Personal blogs. Like this one.
b's blog has always been about a little bit o' dis and a little bit o' dat - lacking any particular theme. 'Much ado about nothing' could be an apropos second byline.
I originally set it up that way so I could free-associate about any number of topics, save for politics and religion, of course - which makes for trouble any which way you look at it.
Having this as my blog format has certainly proven a therapeutic exercise in personal interest writing,
and great fun, to boot.
In addition, one always hopes to enlighten and/or entertain the errant internet surfer who happens by now and again.
But
now
I am
seriously
re-thinking my blog.
Considering a re-do.
A re-vamp.
Or to begin
completely
anew.
Seriously.
It's becoming more and more of a challenge to think of subject matter I am inspired to 'blog about'. Tougher to write with any wit/humor/freshness/conviction/passion on a topic that comes (typically, in the middle of the night) to mind. Something that will actually move me to put up a new post.
Perhaps this is a low energy week for me.
Haven't been sleeping well.
Feeling kinda crabby.
Contemplative - now that's always a dangerous sign.
It may not be the most ideal day to consider changing out the blog format.
Yet change is on my mind...
What to do.
What to do.

A.W.O.L.
Apologies.
I've been Absent With Out Leave for a while, so nibble on a little T.o.P. for a bit and I'll be right back - with some GOOD STUFF.

Gone!
egads!
my blog header/banner has disappeared!
at least it is gone from my firefox and safari pages.
should i wait awhile and see if the header (with teapot morphing into turtle) reappears (due to a problem with blogger) or should i go hunting around for the darn thing?
or give it up for dead and try to create a new header/banner?
(i liked the old one real well and for another odd reason, it no longer exists in my files)
dang!

The I haven't blogged blogpost

I often read blog posts written by other bloggers where the blogger talks about not having posted to the blog.
(that sentence was a bit how much wood would a wood chuck chuck if a woodchuck
could chuck wood, innit?)
Not to have posted to one's blog.
Empty chair syndrome.
For the record, here's my blog post about not having blogged for awhile.
It's been alomost 2 weeks since my last post. Dang! Don't give me up
for lost in blogland, for I shall be back in a few days.
In earnest.
I've got a backlog of blog post ideas on the back burner (and in draft form).
Will get back to 'em and to you - in 'due course'.
I beg your continued patience.
In the meantime, let's get this 2009 thing in gear.
Already good and bad things have
been happening to me and mine.
But we go on.
With a hey nonny nonny.

)) poof ((
Lost it.
Gone.
Last night, readied for your reading pleasure, I completed something of a clever, amusing, informative, introspective, been-there-done-that-but-without-major-drug-use, celebrate celebrate dance to the music posting for this blog. Therein was even a reference or two to The Fab Four.
Topic: Summer of Love. 1967.
Me - at 16. Not a hippie, merely emulating some of the look and definitely grooving on the music. Mindful of the ongoing social movement - its broad sweep across continents, across oceans. I waxed poetic that it could have been our first taste of globalization. We're talking a BigAssSnowballMovement here.
I wrote a bit more about being a Chinatown kid: twice removed from the Haight-Ashbury. C-town had its own counter-culture thing going.
Earlier that year, in February (to be sure, a cold San Francisco day), I was initiated into a Summer of Love mindset by attending the Human Be-In at GG park.
It was a fair piece of writing. Typical for b ~ quantity if not quality.
Another stroll down MemoryLane.
A mantra for living life in the present with a fond tip o' the hat to that colourful and influential era.
Right before publishing, I clicked away to check on some factoid.
Blogger supposedly 'saves automatically'.
It didn't.
)) poof ((
My edited post was gone.
The rough first draft still there.
It was late. I was not up for a re-write.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrowl sez I.
I deleted the first draft. Too rough, sez I.
Gooooooooooodniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite sez I.
Ffffffffffffffffffffffff sez I.
Morning comes: 1967 still on my mind.
Burnt offerings will have to suffice.
This song will jog a memory for anyone who lived 1967. You'll remember where you were, what you were doing, what you longed for. Your life changed - big time.
Smell the pachouli. You're right back there again.
Those who missed it - can not even imagine...

apologies!

It's late.
I'm checking in with b's blog.
Double checking links n' such.
Dang!
I've just discovered that there are a couple of unlinkable links in the last post(s).
I HATE when that happens, and usually do my best to correct or delete ASAP so that y'all don't become frustrated or irritated with getting nowhere when clicking on the links.
However, I will save the re-editing task for the morning.
Need sleep...
Blurry eyed right now to do anything about it -
but -
apologize...

NaBloPoMo

Some of you may have noticed that I posted every day in November.
I was kinda sorta participating (without officially signing up for it) in a blogosphere challenge.
The experience of a daily post was much like:
Feeding a brandied fruit starter (which I did in the 1970's).
which was similar to:
Feeding a Never-Ending quick-rise bread sponge (also popular about the same time).
Can't find a link to this, but it's much like the brandied fruit starter. The starter sponge wasn't a small bit of bubbling live culture for (yummy) sourdough bread that could be tucked away in a warm, dark corner of the kitchen to 'do its thing'.
This sponge, with each weekly addition of flour, sugar and water - begat another full-sized recipe of soft batter. There was enough in each batch for baking into one or more loaves of sweet white bread (tasty, but no big whoop). At the time, no one in our family could eat as much bread (not even with it being fresh-baked and slathered with soft creamery butter!) as this stuff yielded.
The major difference between the two 'feeders' is that the fruit concoction was contained in one large glass jar and feeding the bread resulted in an increasing number of bowls of fermenting bread dough all over the kitchen. The quantity of dough grew to such proportions that it threatened to take over the fridge/ kitchen/ adjoining rooms/ house.
Many a Domestic Diva in the 70's & 80's happily accepted a small baggy of this innocent-looking starter from like-minded bread baking friends without foreseeing the inevitable consequence, which was becoming slave to the mixture. Towards the end of its run in my kitchen, friends would turn tail when I offered them yet another little batch of this 'lovely bread starter'...
I finally rid myself of bread starter the same way I got out of the brandied fruit cycle: I quit feeding 'em and kill the damned things off. Sans guilt.
Back to the NaBloPoMo challenge.
I took it on as a personal goal, met it - and am now very happy indeed to see the back of it. Posting every dang day was too much like feeding brandied fruit and bread sponge. The commitment ended up being more of a drag than not.
Having successfully completed NaBloPoMo (arrrrgh, it's such an awkward acronym, isn't it?), I'm returning to the day (or two or more) breather between posts.
To be sure, I will once again enjoy writing the posts the way I did before NaBloPoMo.
BTW: HD suggested I 'refresh' my blogger create-a-post page, and doing that brought back the toolbar I thought was lost forever. Huzzah! for techno input from the otherwise very-low-tech HD!

That's odd...
...very Twilight Zone-ish.
I've just returned from a few days away.
When I tried to create a post, my 'create' page looks VERY DIFFERENT. As in
there-are-no-tools-to-add-links, pix, change font colors etc.
The entire toolbar thingy is gone.
There's no tab to switch views to html (not that I ever used this) and back.
Can't preview.
Nothing.
I don't get it.
Not understanding the terminology, I hesitate to ask blogger.
This sucks.
Hmmmm.
and
Arrrrgh.
(insert unsmiley face here)

Your HTML cannot be accepted
FRUSTRATION CITY!
I've not been able to publish a post I recently wrote. This error message
keeps coming up:
Your HTML cannot be accepted: Tag is not closed:
Trying to locate the offending open-ended tag/font/what-ever, I've been going over the post with a fine-toothed comb. I can't find anything suspicious.
I even re-wrote the whole post in a new post window and did a 'fresh' re-link to all the links. Both the original and the re-write are currently 'in draft'.
Couldn't locate any fix-it advice about this in 'Blogger Help'.
Can anyone help?
(in techno-language lite ~ so I can understand)

I had a great post for y'all...

about PBS versus really bad reality tv.
It was a sermon of sorts, and I've been working on the post for the last couple of days.
It was getting goooooood.
However, just a few moments ago, I lost my most recent edited version into the black hole of blogpost computerland. Just clicked back and the revision was - gone.
Arrrggggh!
I ain't going back. I deleted what was left.
Moral of story: save your changes!!!!!
Often!
