As you know, you defintely can't surf off the coast of SF, you must go down towards Santa Cruz. This reminds me of watching the surfing movie "Endless Summer". Brings back good and simple times.
Liz ~ You're spot-on about the Pacific Ocean at SF - damn near freezing! One wonders if wet suits worn by Northern CA. surfers can keep that chill out.
Isn't it ironic, though, that as a 'non-swimmer' - I'm a huge fan of surfing flicks. Fantasy: I am a capable, strong swimmer, and can handle myself in the water with great confidence - and I surf...
P.S. I'm acquainted with two women 'surfer girls' = I am in AWE!!!
Living at the beach was awesome, though sometimes rocky (ha!) during the teenage years. Long blonde hair, sandy bare feet, tan body, body surfing, surfer friends, what more could you need in the 60's? Sanity would have been good. But, soothing salty misty beach air, warm, cold or hot...sure cured a lot of ills.
